Patrick Shunn, 45, and Monique Patenaude, 46, were reported missing Tuesday after their neighbors found the couple’s dogs and livestock untended on their Arlington ranch, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. Their cars were found in a remote forest, off an embankment Thursday — but the married couple is still nowhere to be found.
Shunn’s brother said a man the couple has had multiple problems with is missing, too.
“They also had a neighbor that harassed Monique and is not a good guy. He is squatting on a property adjacent to Pat and Monique's,” Erik Shunn wrote on Faebook Wednesday. “He is missing too and I think if they can find him, we will get some answers.”
The sheriff’s office has not released information on any possible suspects or detailed a possible motive. However, deputies consider the disappearance suspicious — it’s not usual for the couple to fall out of touch with their friends and family, officials said.
Shunn and Patenaude were last seen Monday, and their families began to worry a day later.
The couple vanished from their Arlington, Wash., home earlier this week.
Deputies launched a massive hunt for the missing couple’s cars — a Land Rover and a Jeep — in a wooded area in Oso, about 10 miles from Arlington, on Thursday. The vehicles had rolled off an embankment and officials have not yet been able to reach them, KIRO 7 reported. Officials have not determined if Shunn and Patenaude could be in the cars.
